ThunderClan

"There is so clan in the forest so true or so brave. I respect and admire the other clans, but my heart is here, with ThunderClan - the clan of heroes, the clan of compassion, the clan of destiny."
Cryptic Felines

CLAN INFORMATION

Welcome To ThunderClan.

The Clans Information

Values

As is fitting for the Clan consisting of the biggest and most aggressive cats in the territories, there is a large emphasis placed on strength and individual prowess. This is not exclusive to the physical, however. Cats who have remarkable willpower, refuse to flinch in the face of danger, or even are incredibly intelligent and weaponize their brains are celebrated and admired as true ThunderClan warriors. Those with more passive personalities tend to be ignored and lost in the crowd, resulting in inferiority complexes that only worsen the passivity.

ThunderClan believes that most power (and, importantly, wisdom) comes with age. As such, senior warriors are honored here the most, gone to for advice or to settle disagreements - enough so that they sometimes hold more sway than the elders. Older cats are also considered more attractive than young warriors. This means that ThunderClan tends to have their families later in life, past what is considered prime kitting age. Some joke that this is why their apprentices look so old by the time they’re nine months of age.

Habits

Things are much more regulated here than in the other Clans. Patrols set out at the exact same time every night, the number of cats in them always stays the same, and the territory is perfectly segmented with cats hunting in one area for a short time before moving on to the next one to preserve prey supply. Even the dens in camp are specifically organized to have every rank segregated. Everything has structure and is neatly filed away, so to speak. Anything that throws the order out of whack will completely knock back the Clan and leave them off guard for a bit.

Prefixes are used based on what would be most striking for the kit. They like naming after something powerful (Tiger-, Badger-), wild and unstoppable in nature (Fire-, Hail-), or even just whatever stands out the most on the kit’s pelt (Spotted-, Red-). This can apply to plants, especially large ones like trees or those that are extremely poisonous or brightly colored (some old queens’ tales say that naming after toxic plants is actually beneficial to the kit’s survival for a myriad of reasons, but no one seems to agree on which one is right)

Vernacular

Talking to a ThunderClan cat is only really enjoyable for other ThunderClanners. These cats are usually dry, serious and direct, especially the older warriors. Honorifics of “sir” and “ma’am” are most commonly used here, as well as the words that other cats don’t often use due to not keeping track of thing like numbers or the exact location of something in the territory (things like the word for “small-range area” as opposed to “medium-range area”, which other cats barely pay attention to due to it being so specific).

There isn’t really much of an accent here - because ThunderClan cats are exact and orderly about their lifestyle and words, they rarely put any unique inflections or pronunciations in their speech. Voices tend to be a bit louder and deeper than everyone else, with soft tones reserved for kits, secrets and hunting. That said, even a whisper can carry across camp if the speaker so desires.

Characteristic's

Humor does not come easily to these cats - the most one tends to get is some degree of sarcasm or a snappy remark, which are more often used for scolding or arguing than for the sake of a joke. Apprentices and young warriors still have some quality of comedy in them, especially if they have friends in other Clans, but they tend to grow out of it as they age.

ThunderClan’s value of the individual and the power that comes with it means that they are rarely inclined to get involved with the business of other Clans. Their reasoning more or less boils down to “that’s not our problem”, which they come under fire for quite a bit. ThunderClan can be convinced to lend their strength in a fight, but they expect a reward of some kind for going out of their way to help others

INFORMATION

Nobody should be surprised that war is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of ThunderClan. These forest cats are incredibly military in their nature, from following and enforcing the warrior code to a T to defending their borders with everything they have. ThunderClan are fiercely loyal to their high ranks, and to the memory of their ancestors; however, they’re the second least religious of all the Clans, rivalled only by ShadowClan. Ever since any cat can remember, there’s been a constant dispute with both RiverClan and ShadowClan about where the borders lie, and not a single ThunderClan leader has allowed them to be moved since the forcible exile of SkyClan. WindClan and ThunderClan seem to get along best between the four Clans, with very few skirmishes between them.

ThunderClan cats are very uniform in their genetics. A good 90% are soft-furred, but thick-skinned and bulky. ThunderClan cats are known to be able to take several hits before going down, making them formidable foes. Tabbies and tortoiseshells are very common amongst ThunderClan cats, with very few light-furred or solid cats between them. They have a tendency to be a little more stocky than cats of other Clans. Most self-respecting ThunderClan warriors will have a good couple scars on their pelt, and will painstakingly groom their fur every day to make sure the scars can be seen, seeing them as a badge of honour.
