Lukas snorted, shaking his head. Pascal huffed. "Anyway, when Lukas led the Western pack, at the age of eighteen I may add, it was soon discovered that Lucian's parents had killed themselves. And, that they weren't true mates. They had gone to another realm to had mating markings tattooed onto them so it was believed that they were mates. Because Lucian's father never found his mate, he eventually lost control, and to prevent harming his pack he took his life. His mate followed him, despite not being his true mate. This caused the Eastern pack to erupt into chaos, questioning their deceased Alphas including Lucian, believing he wasn't fit to rule the pack. However, Lucian proved them wrong when he found his mate in the early 1900s. His father's Beta, Benedikt, was rather psychotic and wanted to control the pack. But he didn't have the dominance that Lucian did. Benedikt managed to round up members of the Eastern pack who believed Lucian was a curse upon them and would fail as an Alpha. However, many of them defended Lucian. And, as a result, Benedikt challenged Lucian, not just for his Alpha title but for his mate's hand."
"Lucian slaughtered him, to say the least. He and Cynthia became Alphas at a young age. Lucian was twenty-one and Cynthia was eighteen, the youngest Luna in pack history. At this time, they took over as Alphas of the Eastern Pack. However, around that time, Lukas' sister was fought for by another male. This resulted in her death, for the wolf who wasn't her true mate killed her, believing if he couldn't have her then nobody could." Pascal paused, glancing at Lukas. "And, you went crazy at the death of Cosmina and became dangerous to the pack. Lucian came to you and you pledged your fealty, becoming Lucian's fourth-in-line and merging the pack with Lucian's to form the German pack. You gave up your Alpha status, surname, and swore never to take a mate as a result of Cosmina's death. And, that's where we're at now." Pascal finished, glancing between the two.
Pascal came back with an open book, skimming the pages. He huffed. "The first known werewolf bloodline dates back to over eight centuries ago. They were a pair of wolves from Romania, and the Alpha pair was Kasimir and his mate Amaira. There isn't too much recorded about them." He explained, looking at her.
Pascal nodded. flipping through the pages some more. "The only known witch that's been recorded is Desdemona. She sought out the Healers that were emerging within the packs a few centuries ago to harbor their magic. She also planned to wipe out the werewolf packs by causing what we called the Werewolf Wars due to the conflict between protecting the Healers, and the packs turning on each other. She never succeeded, however, and went into hiding. Nobody has seen her for over three centuries now, at least." He looked back at her as Lukas shifted, gazing at the book.
Lukas frowned, wrapping an arm around her. He gave her shoulder a squeeze. "It's going to be fine," He said, glancing around. His Alpha had waited until it was dark out, and the moon was present at it's highest peak. That happened to be the only time when a transformation could occur successfully. "We should head outside, Lucian and Perizada are waiting." He added.
Perizada and Lucian stood near one another, while Peri held a vase-like bottle. She glanced at the pair, nodding. "Normally, this transformation almost never occurs, but the potion in this bottle will help to draw out Lacie's wolf form - should she have one buried within her - with the help of her mate's wolf calling to her." She explained as Lukas nodded.
Peri looked at Lacie. "While this is strange, you'll need to remove your clothing, but not everything. This is because the potion has to be poured over you so it can take effect."
Perizada shook her head lightly. "Again, it's strange, but this is only the second time I've used this potion in nearly three centuries." She remarked, walking over to Lacie and opening the bottle. "Some have described it as a jelly substance, so it shouldn't feel too strange." She said, turning it upside down and holding it above Lacie's head, allowing the clear liquid to spread and cover her body.
Lukas watched, his eyes flickering as he phased into his wolf. He padded over in front of Lacie, his head tilting as he studied her. He looked at Perizada, who huffed at him. "Your old, Lukas, you should have a clue how this works." She remarked, which was met by a creepy, wolfish smile from him. She shook her head. "Werewolves, I swear," Perizada stepped back, folding her arms. "Lukas will use his wolf to communicate with you, in an attempt to bring yours to the forefront, alright?"
There was a sudden felt a jolt of pain, blood seeping from her nose. Her nerves all struck with pain. She fell to her knees, her head pounding. She couldn't scream, she was too weak. She held her head in his hands, curling into herself. The pain was overwhelming, she trembled as her body rejected it. Once it stopped, she coughed, her eyes wide.
Both Perizada and Lucian's eyes widened slightly as there appeared to be a completely opposite effect than what was intended. Lukas phased back, not caring that he didn't have any pants on, and moved as fast as he'd ever moved with his speed, crouching beside Lacie. There were concern and confusion flickering in his glowing gaze, his hand sliding underneath her head.
"Darling, are you alright?" He quickly asked, his voice taking on a gentler tone. He moved to pull her closer to him before his head whipped toward Perizada. "What the hell was that? From my understanding, that is not how the potion works." He snarled as his sudden need to protect his mate flooded his senses and his wolf pushed, his eyes glowing brightly. Perizada raised her hands. "Calm down, wolf. I don't know what happened." She said, walking over to them. She crouched to Lacie's level. "Are you okay, Lacie?"
She ran a hand through her hair, then noticed a familiar figure standing off to the side. She was clearly alarmed "E-Edith?" She was unaware that the others coudln't see her partly translucent aunt. Edith smiled "Hey, Lace. I'm going to get straight to the point, you're a witch. It's a genetic thing. You're apart of my coven. You're also the heir. You need to get to Ireland, I can explain from there. Ciao!" Edith waved and disappeared. Lacie was frozen, now she was even more confused "What the hell?!" She shifted away from the three, she looked terrified.
She raised an eyebrow. "What- no. It's not possible. I can't be a witch." Suddenly Edith reappeared, now visible to all. "Actually, you are." Edith looked at the others, waving. "Hello. She needs to get to Ireland to see the coven. The boy needs to go with her." She pointed to Lukas. Lacie sat on the ground again, closing her eyes. Lacie muttered "I'm crazy. I've lost my sanity."
Lukas snarled lowly when the female appeared. Perizada was confused but mostly stunned by this. Upon hearing that Lukas had to go with her, Lucian snarled at the female, his eyes glowing. "You expect one of my own wolves to go to a witch coven?" He snapped. He spat out the word witch coven with obvious disgust as if the word was tainted by poison.
Lukas looked toward Lucian. "I'll be fine, Alpha." He said, but even that didn't seem to calm the suddenly angered Alpha.
Edith laughed "I'm not pleased with bringing a dog to my witches. If Lacie doesn't have an anchor, she'll go insane. I don't want a powerful and murderous witch being released." Lacie became confused. "Wait, what?" Pure confusion filled her. Edith looked about 19 despite being almost a hundred years old.
Lukas snarled at the remark of being called a dog, itching to launch himself at the witch, but Lucian was faster, seeing his intentions. He released his power, which held Lukas still. Perizada raised a brow. "A powerful and murderous witch?" She questioned.
"A witch needs an anchor to keep her humanity. Witches have this thing with revenge, it can drive them insane. She's young enough it hasn't struck her as badly yet, but she can't be fully trusted yet. The anchor will be a sort of beacon. She'll be drawn to them, and as long as they're alive, she won't have urges to get her revenge." She explained. "Her magic can also drive her crazy, usually an anchor can learn to intercept a spell so that she doesn't kill herself by overdriving her power. The coven needs to be there so she can draw power from them so that wkn't happen." Lacie was still sitting on the ground.
"Fine, we'll find her a different anchor." She crouched in front of Lacie. "You need to get to Ireland or you could hurt someone. It's important you meet the coven. Fly to Athlone tomorrow. I'll meet you there and drive you to the camp." Lacie just nodded.
Lukas shifted his gaze back to Lacie. "You think you'd just stay in Ireland? Your my mate, Lacie. Where you go, I go." He said as Perizada shook her head. "I never thought things in the supernatural world could get crazier than they already were."
Lukas blinked, gazing at her. Lucian huffed, throwing a pair of pants in his direction. "At least put these on," The Alpha commented as Lukas caught them, slipping them on. "Well, I feel like if I didn't go with, there'd be some sort of consequences. That witch said I had to go with you,"
He huffed. "I don't want you going alone." He replied, looking at Lucian. He shrugged. "I cannot make you stay, but I cannot make you go, either. She's your mate now, so it's your choice." Lucian told him.
Lukas frowned, shaking his head as he dropped to her level, his hands gently grasping her face. "You aren't making me do this, because I want to do this. I want to go with you and make sure your safe. Your my mate, and your wellbeing and safety is my first priority for you."
Lukas nodded, returning the embrace. "I am," He replied. Lucian nodded. "Lukas, I want you, Cody, Logan, and my son to meet me in my office in 10 minutes. They will be the only other wolves informed of this new information."
Lukas glanced over at his Alpha, giving him a nod. "As you say, it shall be done." Lucian nodded and headed back to the mansion. Perizada had disappeared.
Lukas made his way into the mansion, looking around as he headed up to Lucian's office. He opened the door, where Xavier, Cody, and Logan all stood near Lucian's desk. The Alpha nodded. "Come in, Lukas,"
Lucian scanned each of the males before huffing. "We have a dilemma at hand. This evening, we attempted to transform Lukas' mate, Lacie, into a full werewolf. However, her body seemed to reject the potion and left her in a deal of pain. A witch came to us, explaining to Lacie that she was a witch, and she needed to go to Ireland to the witch coven there in order to regain proper control of herself before she loses her sanity. Lukas is going with her." He finished.
"We are sending one of our own wolves to a witch coven?" Xavier snarled, bristling at the thought. Lucian eyed him, nodding. "Yes. It is his choice."
Lukas folded his arms. "I am going, end of discussion." He declared. Lucian nodded. "You three cannot speak of this information to your mates. We cannot have the whole pack knowing. We are done here." He said, and the males exited. Lukas went back up to his room, opening the door. He blinked, seeing Lacie back. "Hey,"
Lukas smirked, his arms wrapped around her. "Oh, I'd be so miserable that I'd probably need an army to keep me from going to Ireland and hunting you down so I could chain you to my side and you'd never leave."
Lukas seemed to freeze slightly, releasing a breath. He hadn't expected to hear that from her. Hearing those three words made him smile, brushing some of her hair back. "I love you too," he answered, studying her.
Lukas' brow furrowed as he walked behind them, his eyes darting around. He was unsure about this whole situation. He wasn't sure what to expect out of it, but his main focus was on Lacie. And the woman she was talking to.
He glanced out the window, studying where they were headed. He turned his head back toward Lacie, burying his nose against her neck briefly, inhaling her scent before raising his head and looking around.
After making their way through acres of empty field, the arrived at a gate. A girl who looked about 14, opened the gate for them. There was a ring of small cottage-like houses. Edith and Gillian got out of the car, walking to a group of all similar looking girls. Lacie looked at Lukas, smiling softly.
Edith smiled, raising her arms as they spoke in unison. "Fáilte." Lacie blinked in surprise, glancing to the black marking on her wrist. It was a circle with the Dara Knot in the center. She was unaware that her mating marks were also now visible. One of the other girls laughed softly "She made your supernatural markings visible."
Lukas raised a brow when they all spoke. He watched the circle appear, but his gaze drifted to her back at the girl's comment. He noticed the markings, letting out a low growl, his eyes flickering upon noticing they were visible. He immediately moved behind Lacie and pressed her back against him. He openly frowned at the girl who made it known that her markings appeared.
He spoke lowly into Lacie's ear, his voice stern. "I don't want another male seeing those markings or else I'll want to put their head onto a stake. They're only for my eyes." He looked at Gillian, forcing himself to relax slightly. "Is there any sort of a sweater or something in that car we came in?"
Lukas huffed, releasing her and heading over to the car. He opened the back door, grabbing the sweater. He shut the door, only pausing to remove his own shirt and study his own markings. They started at his waistline and crawled up his back, ending at his neck. However, they also wrapped around his left shoulder and chest, including some of his torso. They had changed, and he knew the reason for the placement. He put his shirt, taking the sweater and walking back over. He handed it to Lacie.
Edith spoke quietly with the others, Gillian had walked off to do god know's what.
Lacie put on the sweater, glancing over at him.
Edith walked over, gently grabbing Lacie's wrist and studying the mark. A grin crossed over Edith's lips. "Well, time for a history lesson, L. Méiri is out, so Bonnie and Elys will help you learn a few basic spells. Gillian will wander back and he can explain to Lukas his part in this."
Lacie allowed herself to be led towards the others, there was an uncanny resemblance between all of them. Lacie recognized a few of her cousins, she quickly grew comfortable around them. Lacie grinned as a few girls talked about their skills and familiars.
Elys explained "A basic locator spell. You need to cut your hand, a shallow cut, and after you say the phrase, your blood with show a trail from to the person you're locating." Lacie nodded, carefully listening to the words Bonnie chanted. Lacie pressed the blade gently against her palm. She quietly muttered the words, watching as the blood drifted towards Germany.
She grinned, glancing at the other two. Bonnie rested her hand on Lacie's, healing the cut. Elys smiled "It hurts less after a few times." Bonnie nodded "Yeah, just make sure that the cut is shallow and thin."
Elys smirked "You're probably going to want to settle in." Bonnie nodded "Yeah." Elys and Bonnie got the bags, placing them by the door and leaving. She smiled to Lukas, beckoning for him to come over.
It was small, but had enough space. There was a kitchen which led to a small living room, then the bedroom and bathroom. She closed the door behind them. She wrapped her arms around him "What do you think?"
Lukas huffed. "Because those markings are considered a private and sacred matter between mates. They're only to be seen by the female's mate. No other male is to see them, unless you want me to rip somebody's eyeballs out of their sockets. It doesn't bother me so much if any females see them, but if I find any males staring at them then they're doomed. I don't care if the male is a vampire, werewolf, or witch, none of them should be ogling over those markings." He said, gazing down at her with a stern expression.
"Yeah, so I kind of can't die now, which kind of sucks now that I think about it. I mean, it'll be great at first but eventually won't I just get bored? All my brothers would be dead unless I somehow can make them immortal too, but the I'd need to explain everything to them, which probably wouldn't end well. There's a witch who is 3,000 years old. I don't want to be that old." She realized she was rambling, quickly falling silent. She smiled "Sorry."
He looked at her. "You didn't expect all of this to be happening and neither did I. I figured I'd get pulled along with since we are mates, and if I wasn't dragged into this I'd get myself into the situation on purpose to be with you."
He nodded. "Scary witch girls, oh lordy," he smirked. He pulled out his phone, finding Lucian in his contacts and dialing his number. When he picked up, Lukas spoke. "Alpha, I'm flying back to the mansion for a few days. I want to talk to you when I get back. I'l give Alpha Dragomir a call and see if he'll just take me out to the airport here. It'll be good to reconnect with him. Okay, see you later," he hung up, putting the phone away. "Okay, we're good."
Lukas ended the call with Dragomir, who would arrive shortly to take him to the airport. He hadn't spoken to the Irish Alpha for nearly a century. He scanned the bags, deciding he didn't need to take his with him. He'd be back in two days anyway. Releasing a huff, Lukas exited the cottage, looking around.
Lukas stopped a foot or so from the gate as a dark, navy blue vehicle appeared. It stopped, and an average-height, built red-headed male stepped out. He flashed Lukas a grin, clicking his tongue. "In my years, I never thought I'd ever pick up a werewolf from a witch coven." He said as Lukas chuckled. "Nice to see you as well, Alpha."
Lukas glanced at the girl working the gate. "Open it," he said, his gaze narrowed. She raised a brow before opening it up which allowed Lukas to walk over to Dragomir, clasping the Alpha's hand. "You haven't changed," he smirked as Dragomir shook his head. "I can say the same to you, old timer."
A dark-haired female came from out of the vehicle, walking to them. Lukas looked at her, smiling. "Agnes, three centuries hasn't changed you. You look lovely as always," he said, taking her hand and pressing a brief kiss to it. While it be strange to others, it was customary that Alphas, or former Alphas, compliment or gush over another Alpha's mate as to show respect.
Lacie was quickly being toppled over by a slightly older girl. Lacie yelped slightly in surprise. "Seriously, Lili? Are you trying to break my ribcage?" The brunette laughed "Maybe. I can't believe you're here. Alice kept you locked up for long enough." Lili had stood up, pulling Lacie into a bearhug.
Angus smiled, taking Dragomir's hand in her own. "Thank you, Lukas. Are you ready to head out?" She asked. He nodded, turning and looking around the houses. His eyes searched for Lacie, locating her with anothwr girl. Without moving, he simply hollered. "Darling, I'm heading out!"
Lukas shook his head at his mate, who was locked into an apparent hug. He gave Dragomir a nod, who went to climb into the driver's side. He exchanged a few words with Angus before she got into the vehicle, and he followed suit. Before closing the door behind him, he yelled again, figuring she'd hear him. "Love ya!" He didn't really care who else heard.
He closed the door as Dragomir started up the car.
Lacie smiled as she heard him shout. Lili laughed, amused by the shout. The taller girl dragged Lacie to one of the small home, they sat on the couch and talked. Lili and Lacie had been very close when they were younger, they had always found a way around the family being split. Lili was easily Lacie's closest friend, and it showed.
Anges nodded. "Well, good, I'm happy you found somebody." She said, smiling. They soon reached the airport as Dragomir parked the car. He turned in his seat. "Tell Lucian I hope all is well, and everything turns out for them." He said. Lukas nodded. "Will do," he exited the car, heading into the airport. Dragomir waved before driving off.
Lukas headed up the lawn, looking around. It was quiet out. Normally the pups were out playing. Where was everyone at? He shook his head, making it up the first step of the porch before he was pinned down.
"What the actual hell?!" Lukas snarled at Cody, who pinned him. The younger male shook his head, his eyes wild. "Not so loud," he said lowly. "She's still out there." He added in a whisper. "What?" Lukas questioned.
Lili dyed the pink back to blonde, then did Lacie's makeup. The pair grinned and headed to the rest of the coven. They were gathered in a circle, Edith in the middle. Edith began speaking "We have an issue. Lacie is the only heir, and she is a werewolf's mate. Despite the fact we did not participate in hunting the Healers, werewolves are biased. I doubt the German pack will accept an alliance, but we can't just allow this pair to be unprotected." Another girl chimed in "I'm not protecting a werewolf." A few others muttered in agreement. Lili stood "Really? Lacie is apart of this coven as well. We protected Lena's vampire boyfriend-" Another witch rose to speak "Because we were allied with their family." Lacie huffed and watched them all argue.
Lukas pushed Cody off, getting up. "What is the damn deal?" He said, frowning. Cody's eyes darted around before focusing back on Lukas. "Desdemona's back. She came out of hiding. She attacked the Serbian pack. Alpha Jeffrey is dead and the rest who remain fell into chaos. They have no Alpha."
Lukas quickly shook his head. "No, no, don't even finish that statement." Cody huffed. "They have no Alpha Lukas. You knew Alpha Jeffrey long before you relenquished your Alpha status. Your the only one who'd be dominant enough to control them." Lukas was pacing the lawn, laughing slightly. "Your saying that because of our close ties to the Serbian pack, and my previous relationship with Alpha Jeffrey, I have to take over that pack?" That's insanity, I haven't led a pack in nearly a century. A century, Cody!"
Lacie finally spoke "Is there a way I can give my status to someone else?" Edith sighed "No. I wouldn't want to test that. You would upset the natural balance. If I die, you need to take over." Lacie huffed "Once I learn to control my magic, I' going back with Lukas. He needs his pack." Edith shook her head "You can't. You need other witches to draw power from-'Lili cut her off "I'll go with her." Everyone fell silent.
Cody shook his head. "That doesn't mean you still couldn't lead, Lukas. You're an Alpha in your own right, whether you want to be or not."
"I don't want to be an Alpha, and you know this!" Lukas snarled, heading into the mansion. He went up to Lucian's office, opening the door rather forcefully without knocking. He looked toward the desk where the Alpha sat, slumped forward with his head in his heads. He was staring at his desktop, shaking his head. When he finally acknowledged Lukas' forced entry, he looked at him. His eyes were glowing, but his expression was that of frustration, anger, and exhaustion. "When did you get back?" He questioned.
Lukas sat down, studying him. "Just now. What is with everyone? Cody just tackled me outside like I was a damn burglar."
Lili broke the silence "Edith, you've said I'm very powerful for my age, and me and Lacie are already close." Despite the protests of the others Edith nodded. "Fine. Lacie, you need to learn more spells and fast. Bonnie, Elys, and Lili will help you."
Lucian shook his head. "Desdemona decided to make an appearance. She wreaked havoc on the Serbian Alpha and his pack. Jeffrey was killed, and most of his wolves managed to flee. They don't have an Alpha, and nobody to follow for guidance or leadership. They'll kill each other if nobody takes the title of Alpha to control them. I don't know if she'll come after any other packs. I haven't heard anything from the other Alphas,"
Lukas leaned back, nodding slowly. "So, if the Serbian pack doesn't find an Alpha, they will all succumb to the darkness and kill each other?" Lucian huffed. "Yes, that's based on how it's going now. It will become anarchy for them," He said lowly. "I know Desdemona is lingering nearby. Brianna said she can feel the dark magic in the forest. I've ordered her to stay in the mansion since she's our only Healer. Please tell me things went better for you in Ireland," Lucian finished, raising a brow at him.
Once it got dark, Lili, Lacie, Bonnie and Elys headed outside. They lit candles as they sat on the ground, holding hands. They chanted in Irish, the flames becoming larger. Once the chanting stopped, Lacie nodded. She pulled her hands away from them.and chanted as she was told. The others seemed surprised by her ease as the flames grew again.
Lukas explained everything he needed to as Lucian listened, nodding. Once he was done, Lucian ran a hand over his face. "Well, that's interesting," He said. Lukas huffed. Lucian gave him a dismissive gesture. "Go get some sleep, we'll talk tomorrow." He said. Lukas got up and left his office, heading to his room. He shook his head once he got there, closing the door. Be an Alpha again? How could Cody suggest such a thing?
Lukas narrowed his gaze slightly, looking around the room. It was strange not having Lacie in here with him. It felt... wrong, almost. Whatever it be, he shook the thought aside and climbed onto the bed.
Lukas rolled onto his back with a huff. He took off his shirt and tossed it aside. When sleep didn't come, he sat back up, running a hand through his hair. His brain wouldn't turn off, much to his annoyance. He got up, looked around, then headed downstairs. Darkness had fallen, covering the forest and the mansion in a cloak almost. He looked outside the nearby window, huffing.
Lukas looked around, Brianna was sitting out on the porch. He raised a brow. He walked out, looking toward her. "Healer, what are you doing out here?" He asked as she frowned. "Well, Desdemona's dark magic is a little hard to ignore." She commented. Lukas went and sat by her. "Where do you sense it from?" He asked. Brianna raised a finger and pointed off toward the west of the mansion. "I can sense her off that way."
Brianna shifted. "She hasn't moved. I know she's waiting for the time to strike." A slight shiver ran through the Healer at the thought. Lukas shook his head. "None of us will let her get her hands on you, and you know that."
Meanwhile, Desdemona was roaming the forest in aimless circles, talking to herself. She was an average-height female with black hair, and oddly striking, yellow eyes. She clapped her hands together as she thought. She stopped, tilting her head as she could sense two wolves sitting outside the mansion. "Who do we have here?" She asked quietly, pulling out her orb to get a closer look. She chuckled. "Oh, how nice. The Healer and the former Alpha having a lovely chat. Let's see if we can make it even better," Desdemona spoke to the empty forest, grinning.
Lacie heard shouting from a young girl with silver hair. She was unaware that this girl was about 4,000 years old. They all went over, Lacie froze as she noticed the girls black eyes. The Oracle shouted "Desdemona has returned!" Lacie's eyes narrowed slightly. "What?" She suddenly felt the need to be with Lukas, something felt wrong. She tried to focus on somehow mindlinking with him. She wasn't panicking, but something was off.
Desdemona raised a brow as she smirked. "A werewolf mated to a witch? How bold. This could be fun," Her smirk seemed to widen. Was she a bit bloodthirsty? Perhaps. She closed her eyes, muttering a few words as her power seeped freely. She allowed the spell she spoke to be cast through the wind, it's words a whisper for those who could catch on. She folded her arms, waiting for it to hit its mark.
Brianna looked at Lukas. "How are things with you and Lacie, then?" She asked. He smirked. "Good, good. Her markings appeared." He said, seeming content with the thought. Brianna grinned. "Really? That's great!" Lukas nodded, pushing himself up to stand, brushing off his clothes. "Yeah, it i-" He replied, but stopped midsentence as he looked around. His wolf perked up abruptly, his eyes narrowing. There was something close; something deadly. Whatever it was, he didn't have time to react as he felt something slam against his chest, knocking him back onto the porch.
Brianna jumped as she saw Lukas go from standing to flying backward. Her eyes widened, scrambling over to him. "Lukas?!" He had released a pained howl when he hit the wood floor, his chest suddenly tightening as though he was being crushed by something. He heard Brianna's sudden concern before he felt the lights turn off on him, and he passed out.
Lacie felt an instinct that Lukas was in pain "I need to get to Germany. Now." The coven just nodded, they set up candles, using their magic to transport her there. Lacie appeared in the lawn, noticing Lukas instantly. She bolted towards him, unaware that Lili was following after her. She felt the heavy magic, she launched herself next to Lukas. "Lukas!"
Brianna went to fling the door open. "Lucian!" She yelled, her eyes searching for the Alpha, but she didn't move far from Lukas, who laid still.
Lucian came storming down the stairs, his eyes glowing. He had felt the disturbance in the pack bond, and gently, but quickly, moved Brianna out of his way. He looked at Lukas, then at Brianna. "What happened?" He growled. She shook her head. "We were just talking and then it was like something just hit him and knocked him down. He howled and then he passed out." Brianna was grumbling to herself in German as Lucian looked around. He frowned deeply, snarling. "This was clearly Desdemona's work," He spun around, looking to Lacie. "I'll have some of the males bring him in. Are you staying here or leaving again?" He asked gently.
Lacie glared, going towards yhe woods. Lili huffed, trying to pull her back. "She'll kill you, you're weaker and younger. Yoh don't stand a chance, Lacie." There was a strange rage in Lacie's eyes. Lili struggled to hold her back. Lili answered for her "She'll stay if she doesn't get herself killed first."
Lucian huffed. "Fair enough," He nodded to the other girl. He gestured and a few of his wolves appeared, lifting Lukas up and carrying him inside. They moved carefully, but also quickly. They didn't know what would happen once he woke up. The wolves brought him to another room, which was situated on the main floor, and somewhat secluded in the gathering room. They placed him on the bed in the room, a few studying him as Brianna followed them.
Desdemona smirked at the howl. "Bingo," She said, proceeding to hum a tune to herself as she turned and walked through the forest rather calmly.
Lili was struggling to keep Lacie held back. "I get right now you want to strangle whoever hurt him, but Desdemona could kill you in seconds and Lukas needs you." Lacie huffed, she went into the mansion. Lili followed Lacie with a grimace.
It wasn't long before Lukas awoke, releasing an angered snarl at the swarm of wolves around him. The tightening and burning sensation he felt in his chest earlier were spreading to the rest of his body, in which he felt constricted. He had lashed out at the nearest wolf near him which was Logan, who immediately grabbed his arm and pinned it down so he couldn't go at him anymore. Cody had to grab his other arm and practically sit on it because Lukas was ready to throw the Delta off and at a wall.
Cody frowned. "Lukas, stop fighting us. You need to stop before you hurt someone else or yourself," He demanded, but he didn't let up. It felt like several minutes before Lukas finally ran out of energy, his face twisted in a grimace as he blinked rapidly, but the blur in his eyes wouldn't dissipate. He could hear Cody say something to him, but everything was muffled.
Brianna moved around the two girls, climbing onto the opposite side of the bed next to Lukas' arm. She placed her hand onto his chest and closed her eyes, calling on her spirit to seep into him and seek out the damage. She searched throughout his chest where the spell had struck, finding a liquid substance to have dissipated into him and was now flooding his bloodstream. She went to check his mind, as well as his wolf. His wolf was intact, but appeared to be locked away and couldn't surface. She frowned, looking for anything more. There was a dark matter that had wrapped itself around the mate bond between him and Lacie that should've been activated after the Blood Rites, but it was sealed shut. Brianna pulled out of him, releasing a slight huff as she looked at the others.
She noticed the frown, starting to panic. Lili kept her arms around Lacie, using a sleep spell. Lili looked at the others "She's going to try and kill Desdemona when she wakes up. I need a cell to put her in. I also need Edith so we can get her a familiar and anchor her to it or she is going to go insane." She looked to Lucian.
Lucian huffed. "We have plenty of cells in the basement." He said, beckoning Lili to follow him with Lacie.
Logan walked to Brianna, crouching to her level. "What did you see, mate?" He asked lowly. She shook her head, scooting off the bed and wrapping her arms around Logan. He quickly returned the embrace, sighing. He never liked seeing his mate upset.
Lili carried the unconscious Lacie. She sighed "I know you don't like witches, but our coven never hunted the Healers. We've never engaged in a battle. I might be able to get Edith to bring the coven here and we can protect the mansion. Lacie is our only heir, we need her." Lili was sincere, she was kind and loving. She was a generally warm person.
Lucian glanced at her as he led her down a flight of stairs. He huffed. "I see where you're coming from. You're certain that your coven wouldn't do any harm to my wolves?" He asked, raising a brow. He was still unsure of all of this. He walked to the cell closest to the stairway. He grabbed the keys, unlocking it, and organizing a few things in it before stepping out. "This should hold her for now. I know it's held a lot of my males when they lose control. She shouldn't be able to escape."
"We have no reason to." She nodded. "Just remember, she can use fire now. Don't let anyone but me down here unless you want a cooked werewolf." She placed Lacie the cell, then walked out. She briefly performed a fire protection spell on herself before sitting by the cell.
Lucian nodded. "Mentally noted," He replied, turning and heading back upstairs.
Brianna was explaining as best she could to her mate what was going on with Lukas. Cody was watching as Lukas' eyes reopened, but the amber color was dull in them. His wolf was unable to resurface, which made the Beta tilt his head. Logan shook his head. "So, your saying either the pain will kill him or the darkness will kill him?"
Brianna frowned. "Yes, from what I've seen, that's what will happen. It's going to just keep weakening him until he loses control if his wolf manages to break out of the binding it's trapped in. I tried expelling the darkness, but it pushed me out. It has Desdemona's words bound to it. The spell won't release its grasp on him until he's either dead or lost his mind. I can't figure out what the liquid is that is in his bloodstream, I have to read through the book again." She shook her head.
Lili called after him "Do you know of anyone she might have had feelings for in the past? She needs someone she cares about to keep her sanity until we can anchor her to her familiar." She gazed at Lucian.
Lucian stopped, looking back at her. He huffed, his expression blank. "She had feelings for my son before she met Lukas." He responded.
Lukas' fingers curled, clenching as he stared up at the ceiling. He snarled through his teeth as the pain washed over him again, jolting his nerves. Brianna went back to him, crouching. "Lukas, what is it?"
Lucian nodded. "If you need anything, yell. I'll put two of my wolves at the top of the staircase to guard it." He said and disappeared upstairs.
She shook her head, pulling back from him. She was able to block some of the pain receptors and make him slightly numb to the pain. Lukas had appeared to relax as she leaned back, watching him. Brianna was stumped on what to do, or how to remove the toxic liquid flooding his system. She knew she needed to figure out what it was, first.
Brianna would look toward Lukas here and there before going back to the book. She huffed, releasing a light growl of frustration. Why did Desdemona have to be so damn clever? She shook her head at the thought.
Lukas shifted, his eyes popping open as the realization hit. He couldn't feel his wolf. Why couldn't he feel him? He reached, his hand reaching and gripping onto Brianna's wrist rather tightly. She jumped, looking at him. "What is it?" She asked, shifting to face him.
"I can't feel him-" He hissed through his teeth, his other hand clenching as he felt his chest tighten again. "You can't feel your wolf." She said, frowning as he nodded a bit vigorously.
Brianna nodded. "Your wolf is locked up in a cage, almost. He's there, but he's stuck. I don't know what else to do about the pain. I can't control it because it's spread and isn't just in one spot anymore. It's just going to weaken you very quickly," She explained as Lukas hissed, shaking his head.
She looked toward the two of them, shrugging. "What else was I to do? A witch and werewolf being mates are unheard of in my book. As far as I'm concerned, our species and their species are incompatible, especially after the war. I just took care of it, but perhaps I should speed things up?" Desdemona raised a brow, though she had a sly smile painted onto her pale features as she snapped her fingers.
Lukas pushed himself up just slightly, his arms trembling as he kept himself up. He ripped off his shirt, which was drenched in sweat, and tossed it aside. Brianna watched him, frowning. She didn't want him falling over. He looked toward her, his expression falling blank.
"I can-" he started, but he found the rest of his speech to become unclear and a jumbled mess. He was struggling to speak around the blood that was starting to fill his lungs. Instead, his arms became too weak to hold himself upright anymore, and he ended up toppling over. While Brianna hoped he'd just drop on the mattress, he went the opposite direction and away from the bed. She couldn't bite back the shriek that escaped her as she dove forward to grab his head before it hit the floor.
Desdemona studied her before shrugging. "Alright, fine, you have a deal."
Brianna's shriek had Lucian flying out of his office and down the stairs, nearly tripping himself in the process. Logan had gone into the kitchen, but hearing his mate shriek made him bolt, following after Lucian. The two males practically threw the door off its hinges, staring at Brianna, who held Lukas' head off thw ground. His chin, neck and chest were covered in blood. She was shaking her head. "I don't know what happened, I don't know how to fix this." She said, her voice laced with concern, but also fear.
"Now, drop the spell. Méiri will make sure you hold up your end of the bargain." Edith crossed her arms. Méiri walked into the mansion and the room. "Once the spell drops, heal him. Quickly." Méiri ordered.
Desdemona raised a hand, speaking a few words before lowering it. "It's been dropped," she said.
Lucian eyed the female who came to the room. Brianna nodded as Lukas' eyes reopened, panic beginning to set in as he gargled around the blood in his throat. She immediately put her hands on him, going in and seeking the damage. She went to his lungs first, expelling the fluid from there and mending the slight tears in his throat so the blood dissipated. She went to his mind, finding the dark matter had dissipated, and the bond was free, as well as his wolf.
Brianna pulled back, looking at Méiri. "It's done, but he'll still be weak for the day or so and take it easy to regain his strength."
Méiri summon Edith, Lacie, and Lili. All but Edith were shocked that they were suddenly there. Lacie leaned against Lili, trying not to puke. Lili laughed "Okay, now we need to perform a protection spell so it won't happen again." Lacie nodded, they held hands, chanting in Irish. Lacie struggled to focus, worrying about Lukas.
Brianna shifted, grabbing a wet towel as she wiped the blood off of him. She pushed herself up as Logan stepped in, walking toward Brianna. He hugged her, kissing her lightly before turning and looking at Méiri. "Where did you come from?"
Méiri narrowed her eyes slightly "Me and Edith just made a deal with Desdemona. Were giving our Oracle to her in order to keep Lacie and Lukas protected." Edith sighed, finishing the spell. "I'm sorry, Méiri. We need to keep Lukas alive for Lacie." Edith watched the black-haired girl storm off. Lacie sat by Lukas, watching him carefully. Lili stayed near Lacie, keeping the girl calm.
Logan huffed, watching her go. Lucian raised a brow, focusing his gaze on Edith. "Thank you for dealing with Desdemona," he said.
Lukas shifted, groaning slightly as he opened his eyes, blinking. He felt the cool, wood floor underneath him. Why was he on the floor? Slowly, he turned his head, blinking as he noticed Lacie. "Hey," he said lowly.
It was Brianna who spoke. "I was going through my book but then I stopped because he had pushed himself up to tear off his shirt. His arms weren't strong enough to keep himself up. I waited to see if he needed any help or would ask. He tried saying something, but with the blood filling his lungs I didn't understand him. I didn't realize what was happening until he just toppled over cause he was choking on his own blood." She finished, her arms folded.
"That's because it is a very stupid idea," Lucian and Lukas both chimed in, in which the males exchanged glances. Lukas huffed. "Desdemona is too powerful, to her your basically a fly. She'd swat you out of the way without a second glance." He said, glancing up at Lacie. "Desdemona is not worth it,"
Lili smiled "See. And if you try to kill her, I'll just lock you in-" She was cut off by Edith, who had a dead-looking cat in her arms. Lacie lit up "Is this my familiar?" Edith nodded "Samael is going to be your anchor. Now go grab a knife." Lili pulled a small knife out of her pocket "No need."
Lukas raised a brow, watching them. He looked between the girls, shaking his head lightly. Logan walked back in, stopping as he looked down at Lukas. "Do you wanna maybe move off of the floor?" He inquired. Lukas huffed. "Might as well,"
Logan nodded, reaching and clasping onto both of Lukas' hands with his own, pulling the male to his feet without much issue. Lukas grabbed onto him once he was on his feet to be sure he didn't fall forward and take Logan down with him. He glanced around. "Okay, I think we're good now," Lukas commented.
Lacie was led outside, into the grass. Edit explained she needed to cut the tip of her finger and use her blood to wake Samael. She did so, the cat's red eyes flicked opened. Lacie huffed "He doesn't look that friendly." The cat looked at Edith, then to Lacie. "Hi?" She waved, she got a hiss in response. Edith laughed "I was planning to pick the python but that didn't seem safe. Samael isn't a pet, he serves your magic." Lacie nodded "So, if he's around I can use stronger spells." Lili smiled "Exactly. Now , you need to bind Samael to you. Then he will be your anchor." Lacie performed the spell, shrieking slightly as Samael spoke to her through telekinesis. "You're annoying." She looked at Edith, narrowing her eyes. "Is your familiar supposed to insult you?" Edith smirked "Sometimes they do, yes.".
She giggled "Well, get used to it. He'll be around as long as I'm alive." Samael growled lowly at the mention. "It'll be torture." He used telepathy again. She huffed, glaring at the cat "You're so rude."
Samael piped in "Probably not for much longer." He was able to link to both Lukas' and Lacie's mind. She glared "And why is that?" Samael leapt onto the edge of the bed. "Because you'll probably overdrive your magic. It'll be a blessing, really."
Lukas huffed. "That is true," He commented, shifting as he gazed at her.
Desdemona had returned to her hideout deep within the forest. She gave a disapproving huff, throwing her arms up with an "are you serious?" expression. "How did I manage to be talked into making a deal? Nobody talks me into a deal, I talk them into a deal." She rambled, shaking her head. The witch ran her hand through her long, black hair as her rambling continued in a hushed tone.
