- KITS - Kits will age 1 moon/week out-of-roleplay.
- APPRENTICES - An apprentice/medicine cat apprentice ceremony will be held after a kit has reached 6 moons old and they will receive the suffix -paw. Apprentices will have their warrior ceremony when they have completed 100% of their training and have reached 12 moons old. Each training session contributes 20% to their progression, so to become a warrior, an apprentice must complete five training sessions in total. A medicine cat apprentice will become a medicine cat when their mentor believes the time is right, and when they have cared for at least five injured or sick felines. Apprenticeship for medicine cats normally lasts longer than those for warrior apprentices.
- Apprentice ceremony:
- The Clan leader calls a Clan meeting to appoint a new apprentice and assign a mentor to them. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Leader: (Kit), you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as (new name, ending with the suffix "paw"). Your mentor will be (name of warrior or medicine cat). I hope (name of warrior or medicine cat) will pass down all he/she knows on to you.
- The leader calls up the warrior he/she has chosen as a mentor.
- Leader: (Warrior), you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from (former mentor), and you have shown yourself to be (quality) and (quality). You will be the mentor of (apprentice), and I expect you to pass on all you know to (apprentice).
- The mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice by calling out their name. After this, the apprentice will usually go greet their family, or go see their mentor.
- The Clan leader calls a Clan meeting to appoint a new apprentice and assign a mentor to them. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Medicine cat apprentice ceremony:
- The leader calls a Clan meeting, after the Clan's medicine cat announces that they wish to mentor an apprentice. After their ceremony, the mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice.
- At the next half moon, the medicine cat goes with the apprentice to the Clans' sacred place to present them to the warrior ancestors, where the apprentice confirms their wish to be a medicine cat. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Medicine cat: (Apprentice), is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?
- Apprentice: It is.
- Medicine cat: Then come forward.
- Medicine cat: Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. They have chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant them your wisdom and insight so that they may understand your ways and heal their Clan in accordance with your will.
- The medicine cat apprentice touches their nose to the Moonstone or drinks from the Moonpool. Then the medicine cat and the apprentice lay down and have a dream from StarClan.
- Apprentice ceremony:
- WARRIORS - A warrior ceremony will be held for an apprentice who has completed their training and they have reached 12 moons old. Once a warrior reaches 72 moons, they are eligible to become a senior warrior. They may become an elder when they are too old to continue serving the clan, or if they are seriously wounded, they may be forced to retire early.
- Warrior ceremony:
- If the Clan Leader is satisfied, they call a Clan meeting and call the apprentice forward. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Leader: I, (Leader), leader of (Clan), call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn.
- Leader: (Apprentice), do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?
- Apprentice: I do.
- Leader: Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. (Apprentice), from this moment on you will be known as (new warrior name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full warrior of (Clan).
- The leader rests their muzzle on the apprentice's head, and the former apprentice licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan then greets the new warrior by calling them by their new name. The warrior will sit a silent vigil guarding the camp that night, unless that is not possible or if the cat is injured.
- If the Clan Leader is satisfied, they call a Clan meeting and call the apprentice forward. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Dying apprentice ceremony:
- When an apprentice is on the verge of death and has proven themself to be worthy of a warrior name, there is a special ceremony used so that the apprentice may take a warrior name to StarClan.
- Leader: I ask my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have learned the warrior code and given up their life in the service of their Clan. Let StarClan receive them as a warrior. They will be known as (new name).
- When an apprentice is on the verge of death and has proven themself to be worthy of a warrior name, there is a special ceremony used so that the apprentice may take a warrior name to StarClan.
- Warrior ceremony:
- MEDICINE CATS - After a medicine cat apprentice has completed their training and they have reached 12 moons old, a medicine cat ceremony with the clan's current medicine cat will be held at the Moonpool. Most medicine cats will keep their role until they die, but may retire as an elder or return to their warrior duties if they desire. While it rarely occurs, a warrior may exchange their life as a warrior to become a medicine cat.
- Medicine cat ceremony:
- Once the Clan's medicine cat is satisfied with the apprentice's knowledge, they go to the Clans' sacred place (such as the Moonstone or Moonpool). This is the only ceremony that is not performed by the Leader. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Medicine Cat: I, (name), medicine cat of (Clan), call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help (he/she) will serve (his/her) Clan for many moons. (Apprentice), do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?
- Apprentice: I do.
- Medicine Cat: Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. (Apprentice), from this moment you will be known as (new name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of (Clan).
- The medicine cat rests their muzzle on the apprentice's head, and they lick the mentor's shoulder. The other medicine cats greet them by their new name.
- Once the Clan's medicine cat is satisfied with the apprentice's knowledge, they go to the Clans' sacred place (such as the Moonstone or Moonpool). This is the only ceremony that is not performed by the Leader. The following words are used, by tradition:
- Medicine cat ceremony:
- DEPUTY - To be eligible for deputy, a warrior must have trained at least one apprentice (except the first deputy). A deputy ceremony will be held for the chosen warrior. The new deputy should ideally be at least 24 moons old, but on rare occasions, they may be chosen at a younger age.
- Deputy ceremony:
- The leader calls a Clan meeting, and performs the ceremony by announcing these words:
- Leader: I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors (or former deputy name) may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of (Clan) is (warrior's name).
- The leader calls a Clan meeting, and performs the ceremony by announcing these words:
- Deputy ceremony:
- LEADER - If the clan's previous leader has stepped down, the deputy may take over as leader. The former leader can choose to retire and become an elder or return to life as a warrior. A leader ceremony will take place at the Moonpool where the former deputy will receive their nine lives and the suffix -star. The new leader must appoint a new deputy before Moonhigh the same night.
- Leader ceremony:
- The new leader goes to the Moonstone (or Moonpool) with the Clan's medicine cat. After touching the stone (or drinking from the pool), the new leader cannot move for a short period of time, because their old life is being ripped away so they can receive nine new ones. Upon awakening, cats of StarClan come down from Silverpelt. Nine cats, normally ones who were significant during the new leader's life or the Clan's history, although this is not always the case, give them their nine lives with these words:
- Life giver: (Touches nose to the top of the new leader's head) With this life, I give you (gift). Use it well (to, in, as, for, etc.) (use of gift).
- When all of the lives have been given, normally the previous leader says these words:
- Previous leader: I hail you by your new name, [original prefix]star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of [the Clan they lead]. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity.
- Often, after all the lives are given, the previous leader usually conducts the coronation for the new leader. However, sometimes the previous leader does not speak at the ceremony, or it is unknown if they are actually present, and another cat will conduct the coronation for the new leader - often the last cat to give them a life, but it also can be performed by the entirety of the amount of StarClan cats known to be present in the ceremony.
- Just as the forest-cats would call a warrior by their new name, the StarClan cats acclaim the new leader. After the ceremony, the new leader is not allowed to tell any cat what happened during the ceremony, with the exception of the medicine cat.
- Each of the lives normally give the new leader a great deal of pain as a sign to ready them for the hard work it normally will be to lead their Clan. However, certain lives, depending on the gift, do not cause pain and instead give the new leader a much better feeling.
- Getting nine lives does not necessarily mean that a leader will live longer, but they can survive certain accidents or injuries that would normally claim the life of a cat. However, they cannot survive if they have major injuries such as the injuries Scourge gave Tigerstar.
- If a leader no longer wishes to be the leader, they must go to the Moonstone/Moonpool to revoke all but one life, so their deputy may receive their full nine lives.
- In rare cases, a cat chosen to be leader that has already died may be taken to the Moonstone/Moonpool to be revived by StarClan. The revived cat only receives eight lives, as they had already used up one of their lives prior to the ceremony.
- Leader ceremony:
LEADER (1/1) Leaders are the head of their clan. Their personality is the same as their clan's and describes how their clanmates treat others. The word of the clan leader is law, proclaimed by the warrior code, and all other cats in the clan must obey them. They have their own den, and are assisted by a deputy in their tasks. They are responsible for the whole clan, calling clan meetings, appointing cats to new ranks, and making the toughest decisions. Each clan has one leader, and their names end with the suffix -star. |

DEPUTY (0/1) Deputies are second in command of a clan. A deputy is chosen by the leader to be their successor. Deputies sleep in the warriors' den; they do not have their own den like leaders do. Deputies are responsible for organizing daily patrols for the clan, such as hunting patrols and border patrols. If a clan leader is unable to lead a clan temporarily due to sickness, being away from the clan, etc., then the deputy would take over for that time. If a deputy is sick or injured, then a warrior will temporarily take their place, or senior warriors will distribute the tasks among themselves. If the leader dies, the deputy would travel to Moonstone, or Moonpool with the medicine cat to share tongues with StarClan and receive their nine lives. If a deputy dies, the leader must appoint a new deputy before moonhigh. |

MEDICINE CAT (0/1) Medicine cats are clan cats who treat diseases and injuries, and who receive directions and guidance from StarClan. They have their own den in their clan's camp, where they sleep, store herbs, and treat wounded or sick cats. Medicine cats are not allowed to take mates or have kits. They are expected to stand apart from clan rivalries. Medicine cats have a special way of getting their full name, including that this ceremony is performed by the apprentice's mentor instead of the clan leader. Also, the ceremony takes place during the next half-moon meeting at their sacred Moonstone or Moonpool with the other clans' medicine cats to cheer their new name, instead of right away in their clan with their own Clanmates to cheer their new name. They are deeply respected by their clanmates and few cats dare to argue with them. |

MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE (0/1) A medicine cat apprentice sleeps in the medicine cat den with the full medicine cat. Medicine cat apprentices get their full name at the Moonstone (in the old forest) or at the Moonpool (in the lake territories.) They also stay as an apprentice for as long as their mentor is still a medicine cat, even after they receive their full name, unlike warrior apprentices. Medicine cat apprentices will still tend to elders like warrior apprentices, dealing with their ticks and bedding. |

SENIOR WARRIORS (0/5) A senior warrior is a warrior who is older and more experienced than the others, but has not decided to become an elder yet, and would rather serve their clan as long as they can. Senior warriors are given respect, and are often asked for advice by the clan leader. Senior warriors are also tasked with leading patrols, and filling in for the clan deputy should they be unavailable. |

WARRIORS (0/∞) Warriors have been trained in the ways of fighting and hunting in addition to the ways of the warrior code. They are charged with the responsibility to feed and protect those cats who are elderly or unable to spend time out of camp. Warriors make up most of a clan: each cat is, was, or will be a warrior (except medicine cats), unless they die before they become a warrior. |

APPRENTICES (0/10) Apprentices are clan cats six moons or older, training to be a warrior (or sometimes a medicine cat) under a mentor. All apprentices' names end with the suffix "-paw" which symbolizes the path their paws are on, until they receive their warrior name. Most apprentices just have the suffix "-kit" taken off their name and replaced with "-paw", but in special cases, their name completely changes. An apprentice becomes a warrior once their mentor or clan leader thinks they have learned enough or proved they are worthy of becoming warriors. |

KITS (0/10) A kit is a cat under the age of six moons who is still living in the nursery with their mother and littermates. Kits are usually very mischievous and energetic and are known to bother warriors and elders. However, they tend to be interested in the stories the elders tell. When kits are not named because they die before their parents have a chance to name them, they are named by other StarClan members. Kits stay in the nursery together with their mother who nurses them and takes care of them for six moons. |

QUEENS (0/5) When a cat is expecting kits or has recently given birth to a litter of kits, they become known as a queen and move to the nursery. When cats become queens, they give up their title and duties as a warrior. However, they become a warrior again once their kits have been apprenticed. Some cats, though, prefer to stay in the nursery even after their kits have become apprentices. Queens have a vital role in continuing the clans' survival as they give birth to the next generation of warriors. When a warrior dies, a queen might prepare the body with herbs for the vigil. If a queen does not wish to tell who the father of the kits is to the clan, that is their choice. Queens usually adore their kits and want to make sure that they can be the best that they can be. |

ELDERS (0/5) An elder is a clan cat that has served their clan faithfully, but has now retired. They are wise and are held in high respect by the other cats; their counsel and knowledge is sought several times, even by clan leaders. They do not have to catch their own food, nor do hunting patrols or fight, except to defend if necessary. Elders are to be held with the utmost respect from cats of all clans. They have served the clan well in the past as apprentices and warriors. During their youth, they took care of the elders of their generation. Now, it is their turn to rest, and the youth of the clan is to take care of them in honor of all they have done to serve the clan. |
