NAMING GUIDEHi there! I am nuii or Amaryllisblossom and I am here to help you out with naming your Original Character or OC. About a year ago I made a name guide that became quite popular for a period of time before dying out after I stopped being active on the wiki. Now I'm back again with more improved tips, prefixes, suffixes and help with assigning a name that correlates well with the character design and personality trait.

I personally took the time to search many different names of plants and animals and rocks etc. you can only imagine my search history- Aside from that I basically compiled lists of different names just for you which, by the way, took much longer than you can imagine since I've pulled these from various different sites and classified them and coded and selected the best ones. You're welcome. (no, seriously I'm not being sarcastic), Now let's continue:

Here are some things you should know before looking into names.

  • when making a character the name should be somehow related to the character's design.

PREFIXES:

Example 1:If your character is peppy, easily excited and optimistic  you might name them "Sunflower-" because they are always looking on the bright side of things like how sunflowers always look in the direction of the sun. (Personality)

Example 2: If your character has a black and grey pelt you might give them the prefix "Tadpole-". (Character Design)

Example 3: If your character was born during the blood moon you might give it the prefix "Crimson-". (Birthplace/Conditions)

Example 4: If your character was known to play with mossballs you might give them the prefix "moss". (Favorite Things)

SUFFIXES:

Example 1: If your character is the silent and reserved type you might give them the suffix "whisper" for being often silent and quiet. (Personality)

Example 2: If your character has a spotted pelt you might give the suffix "dapple" (Character Design)

Example 3: If your character is fast and quick on thier paws your might give the the suffix "Runner" or "Strike". (Attributes)

Example 4: If your character enjoys eating you might give the the suffix "Belly, Bite or Nibble". (Favorite Things)

^^ the same general topics can apply when making a character without the traditional "prefix-suffix" name aswell.

OVERUSED

Try to avoid using too-common prefixes and suffixes. Your character can still be unique even with one of these but I personally am more likely to click a page with a more unusual prefix or suffix rather than a common one.
